Home Instead Senior Care (HISC) presented Portland area nonprofit Store to Door with a check of $17,466.43 for their work in supporting independent living for local seniors through their low-cost grocery and delivery service. The gift was part of the GIVE65 online fundraising drive, which supports nonprofits focused on caring for seniors. The check included $13,645 raised by individuals through the drive, and additional matching funds from the HISC Foundation.
“It was an honor to be selected as one of 65 organizations to participate nationally in the event,” said Kiersten Ware, Executive Director for Store to Door. “HISC’s passion for personalized care aligns well with our commitment to ensuring seniors age with dignity in a setting of their choice. Our local HISC franchise owners, Preston and Aimee Roth at the NE Sandy location, are very passionate about their work and have generously supported Store to Door’s work on the local level. So to be recognized by HISC on a national level is such an honor.”
Store to Door’s mission is to support independent living for Portland area seniors and people with disabilities by providing a low-cost, volunteer-based grocery shopping and delivery service.
“Store to Door’s mission to serve seniors aligns with ours at Home Instead and we look forward to growing our relationship,” said Aimee Roth, HISC Owner, serving Corbett, Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, and Portland. “It has been a pleasure to partner with Store to Door on the GIVE65 event and I am so excited to present this check to them.”
Store to Door was founded in 1989 when a handful of people living in low-income senior housing, too frail to shop on their own, requested assistance from the community. Today, they serve 536 clients with the support of more than 600 volunteers. By 2019, they plan to double the number of people who receive their life-saving service.
“There is a such a need in the community for this service,” said Jean Pierce, Store to Door Board Member. “It’s good for the clients, but it’s also good for us volunteers. It keeps me going. And it’s so nice to see an organization such as Home Instead Senior Care truly understand and appreciate the important work Store to Door provides.”
